Following is copy of letter sent to members of ARPA Speech Understanding
Program and selected people in DoD organizations:
1. The Information Processing Technique Office, Defense Advanced
Research Projects Agency, is planning a one day workshop in Washington,
D.C. on the subject of speech understanding to begin at 0830 hours,
10 November 1975.
2. The purpose of the workshop is to explore thr requirements for
speech understanding in the Department of Defense, and particularly,
to exchange information concerning ongoing research programs and the
state of technology in this area. Finally, it is expected that the
workshop will result in an examination of future research needs in
speech recognition, interrelationships of word-spotting, isolated
word recognition and speech understanding, and an investment strategy
for speech understanding research.
3. Please advise if you would be interested in attending the workshop
and if you can present a short summaary of your ongoing research
projects. Replies should be addressed to:
